Writing Magazine Query Letter

First Freelance Article?
So I have recently developed an interest in the freelance business and have just completed writing my first article. I am satisfied with it, but not sure what the next step might be.
Should I try and write some query letters to magazines and wait to try and get paid and published?
OR
Should I just submit it to a website relevant to my topic and hope it gets posted for free and read?
OR
Should I submit it to an article based website such as ezine for free?
If were to settle for just submiting it, could I use it as a “clip” in future query letters and list it as experience?
Thanks for your help
Good for you. I’d say keep building up your article library. Start submitting some for free to sites like Helium.com or eZinearticles.com just to get some out there. Then work on getting paid for some writing from sites like odesk.com. Once you’ve built up some great samples, and received payment for a few pieces, you’ll have a great basis for submitting to magazines and learning that long and time-consuming part of the business. Best of luck.
