Musicians: How to find band members

Finding band members is never easy. For starters, you might want to ask what you are looking for – whether to join an existing band or find individual members to start their own band. Obviously, both have differences that must be answered first before you start exhausting search.

Join an existing group. It is a great way for enthusiastic musicians to gain experience playing immediately, but it is sometimes hard to find such opportunities. It is about creating groups that are looking for a member or several, for various reasons (his guitarist an overdose of cocaine, bassist was fired because of problems with alcohol, etc..) This might go without saying, but make sure that I really love the music has a kind of group before deciding to join your group! I know there are musicians playing in a group they do not even like the music they play, everything to gain experience "," put a foot in the door and is expected to move to greener pastures. We can not emphasize enough that if you do not like the music you play, you'll do a job half ass to him so why bother?

Also known your playing experience and limits. For example, if you've only started playing the guitar, learning songs green every day for a few months ago not wait to join thrash metal band that requires you to make quick sweep picking arpeggios, or any other crazy technique guitar. Ensure choose a music group where the game technique is comfortable with their level of competence as a musician.

A great advantage to join a band established (perhaps) is that most orders leaving is already provided. This includes tasks such as finding an agent or manager to book your concert song development, contracts with record labels, etc. All have to do is show up for the test and play shows as scheduled.

A good resource to start finding these bands in need is happening in most rehearsal studios where they hide. These are places where any musician can afford a room to rehearse. Best of all, all the musicians are often in your area. Check bulletin boards where the frequency bands can post an ad be something like:

"Looking to join a group that rocks?" We need a guitarist with a great experience! Our influences are: Megadeth, In Flames, Black Sabbath, and many more! If you are interested, please contact Todd at XXXXXXXXXX. "

Or better yet, to put an advert on the board for the bands contact you instead. Local shops, indie usually have a bulletin board for classified ads too. These are some of the best ways to find free band members in your area.

Disadvantages of joining an existing group. Abord all you have to learn all their songs usually in a limited time. The group could have an upcoming show and you should be able to play every song perfectly note for note. It goes without saying, can be stressful for some musicians (except if their music is simple and easy with Pure Power Agreements note 3.)

Another disadvantage is often his own music creativity is limited. The Most bands prefer their original tunes to play and work without a drastic change. For example, if you have joined a band and have replaced their old guitarist, how the former guitarist played a single particular, is how the group wants to be played by you. Often you have to follow the structure of the notes of a piece of music composed by one musician.

Organizing your own group. Here is where you can try to find individual musicians to start a new group, usually with similar ability and background music. Thinking of starting a band's the easy part, but the actual process of looking for the right people is harder than most people think. What there are tons of musicians out there in the world, but only a small percentage that you can be compatible. Also, ask yourself: will you play in a band just for fun, or try to live it? This affects where to start to search.

The Internet has become a popular method for musicians to find other musicians. If you search for "looking for musicians" in Google, you can find easily in 12.4 million results – so how to find what you're looking for? Several items on sections in the forums and classified ads popular music is vaguely have descriptions like this:

"Guitar Player looking to form a group."

Well, simply stunning.

Try to narrow your search to keywords such as the area where you are, what position you seek, etc Example: "In looking for bass players in Toronto. "The first search result is an ad posted on www.craigslist.org, which incidentally is an excellent place to start. Try not to focus attention on the print ads that describe the musician, who understands how the experience of a player, he / she has the kind of music you are ready to play, and intends to play in a band. Or you can publish your own ad in forums music community and add a link to your audio / video that shows interest likely candidates. Audio / Video samples that highlight your works are often the most influential factor of candidates contacting the back.

Be consistent with this. Chances are you will not find someone just off in his first message, then try to update the ads on a weekly basis (but no spam!).

The Internet is an important resource, but do not rely solely on it. You may find that you have more luck in the search ad listings local magazine which is more direct. Also, because musicians have to pay for their ads in magazines, it shows you are serious about organizing a band.

Do not limit yourself to one spot. If you are serious about starting a career as a musician, do not search for groups or members only in your area. Living in villages small towns will not give you many options in choosing the right group for you or member. Growing up in urban cities where the potential to find band members is greater.

Search for members of the band, It's like finding a good job. Know exactly what you want before searching, always with a good loan portfolio, and be consistent in its attainment. Good luck!
