IPAD: Kindle Killer?
IPAD kill the Kindle is a device? Kindle will only continue to exist as an IPAD application? O IPAD demonstrate that avid readers have been looking for? The devices are so radically different, are not yet in the competition?
There are some important differences between the two devices, the main one being price. Currently, a Kindle 2 was sold to U.S. $ 259, and an entry level IPAD (Wi-Fi only, 16 GB) for U.S. $ 499. If you are in the market for an e-reader and the money was not an object, even choose to have an IPAD in the Kindle?
With two, there are other costs – including buying of books or subscriptions to periodicals. With the IPAD, you also pay for many applications, depending on your model, 3G data plans too.
There are big differences between how the devices work, too. IPAD has a LED backlit display. This can be considered a plus in a situation of little light, backlight, however, is also linked to eyestrain after long periods. On the other hand, life LED displays consume much more energy, so the battery life between charges is a problem. A Kindle with the e-Ink screen is much easier to view, and it works very well, even in bright and direct sunlight. A disadvantage of e-Ink screen is that you must have another source to read, but this should not be a big deal – after all, we read books that way 500 years!
Autonomy is a phenomenal battery Kindle 2, unless you leave the 3G wireless all the time. With the radio off, a Kindle is normally used at least a week between charges, depending on usage. Obviously IPAD can not approach – the rule seems to be about 10 hours between charges, depending on usage.
Weight and size could be an issue for some buyers, the Kindle 2 is much lighter and smaller than the IPAD, which means it is easier use for long periods and transported. The Kindle weighs 10.2 ounces reported two books IPAD onlly 1.5 model and 1.6 pounds WFi WiFi and 3G models. It is an important difference and could be problematic for some.
IPAD is much Kindle can not do, such as multimedia. We are all familiar with reading magazines and have numerous color photographs or other illustrations in the paper, and a IPAD continues to receive the experience. Kindle books and has many illustrations and beautiful levels gray, but this is not the same. One big difference and there is more: with IPAD also have links to maps that lead to more information, websites, videos, songs and more! It is a true revolutionary, and very different from experience that you have read a Kindle. It is difficult to explain the difference – one is designed Kindle mainly to read the text, an IPAD is designed for the storage device. It's like the difference between a black and white film and color, 3D, sound surround sound movies. Still enjoy the plot, but you see, is very different.
Both devices let you add and listen to your MP3 music files, However, the Kindle does not let you organize your songs into playlists (or even view a list of files). IPAD, with its iTunes link is obviously. Eager readers but usually tune out distractions like music, and probably do not really care about this feature during playback.
There are more differences, we can explore in future articles, but one thing is true of both the IPAD and the Kindle 2, which need protection against the ravages of daily life.
