Are there any magazines that pay you to write erotica?
Hi, I’m wondering if there are any magazines that publish erotica and pay… I’ve heard the Penthouse does but I can’t find submission guidelines anywhere on their website… I’m interested in magazines that publish all genres of erotica, not just ones that publish “straight” erotica or “vampire” erotica, etc, so not just one magazine obviously. I’d like to experiment. Thanks!
flyy, Writer’s Market lists periodicals seeking erotica, although the number seems to shrink with every edition. (Many readers of short erotica get their needs fulfilled online, for free.)
A lot of the markets are for “specialty” erotic fiction aimed at a readership with a very specific interest, such as slash, a particular fetish, or a certain type of relationship in which one person controls the other.
FWIW, erotica often pays less than other types of short fiction, and the standards for quality are tipped more toward content than excellent writing, although the writing still has to be solid.
