Plan a good defense starts every time before you find yourself in an incident – long before
There are many good ideas are offered in the way of education self-defense, and they all point to the preparation. But preparation for what?
Emergency plans. If we shot. Avoid certain areas (Holidays, to live, etc, have a safe, etc.).
All points of this awareness. Not just for paying attention, but awareness at various levels.
In my view, there are three types or areas of advocacy to the question of self-protection.
The first type is the awareness general. This includes the recognition not only is there a danger in the world, but also that I can find. We can simply start with our own space, and then spread out to areas of vacation can be, etc.
It tends to treat the level of self-protection, rather than self-defense. So for me, there is more to it than just dealing with kids who are assaulted with fists, guns and knives. Self-protection extends to areas of natural disasters, fires, car accidents, animal attacks, etc.. At the simplest level, self-protection or self-defense is a mindset, not just a bunch of "is moves "to hurt other human beings.
At this level of consciousness, I choose the location where I live, so I rodeo to the crime, or has the possibility waking up in flood waters because of the town where I live below the normal level of the river! I can choose other things that I will be more safe – things as partners and friends the profession and others.
The second type of knowledge is "knowledge of the situation." It's the ability to pay attention to what happens around you so you can respond appropriately. Here, it is important to know "why" pursue the path of danger signals, evacuation routes, security zones, and other clues that indicate potential danger. This gives me time to assess the situation, find escape routes and make decisions, while still I'm relatively calm.
Taken far enough, also includes the study and understanding of body language signals, forward or forward and mentality, MO criminal and your area. Thus, not searching for "nothing", which amounts to paranoia. But rather, I can continue my life without having to worry if I am aware suddenly something suspect and worthy of greater attention.
This vision is necessary if you are in the danger zone, or because they have chosen to stay (more good reason), or the situation happened so quickly that I could not get out first time. However, since you're always seeing things happen, you still have time to make decisions about your stay to help the victim, or exit.
And finally, the last type of knowledge is "awareness incident. "Here you are at the heart of things and staying focused on what's important. Once again, however, starting in training before I came here.
Any good detective, bodyguard, or a soldier to tell you … "his answer is the only way he trained. And I would add it, "his answer is as you have qualified."
What does this mean that if you down our guard or do not bother to use a type of training on stress-response in order to hone their skills under pressure, or just read or watch videos in defense own, you can never be sure how you'll use when you are "in it." Or, if you want to react to all!
This has been shown in studies in Vietnam during the war. What researchers found, contrary to what the two films to show, in a typical unit, only 20% of the fighters were firing in response to a shooting! Twenty percent! Why? Fight, flight or freeze. And only 20% are in the fight "kingdom!
Another example This "do as, you've trained" concept is the fact that many police officers were killed in a shooting gets empty shell casings in their pockets or clips or bags of the magazine. Why? Because during training, they were too lazy to pick up things after the shooting and went into this deadly habit during recharging.
I've heard people say, "Yes, but in a real situation, I will …" But the fight against Vets know often it makes sense that normally can be very different than what takes place under pressure. Thus the process of how it is responding. Just because you think that should do something does not mean that you may even be able to do this.
Again, it comes to education.
Knowledge hazard rates, we can meet – so that we can prepare and develop the skills that is, training and knowledge we may need "before of "need.
The knowledge of our environment so we can meet before or at least "as" something happens. And …
Awareness during a fight – so they can stay focused on what is important and make decisions and actions needed to get out of there in one piece.
Including knowledge of our own strengths and limitations, the type of personality, typical reactions when we are under pressure, fear or anger are significant.
One of my teachers once said, "is not bad – that's what you do when they perform that matters." And what you do is determined primarily by what they focus on.
